When we see a finished costume, we often imagine a simple assembly of fabrics.
In reality, every custom creation is like clockwork—an intricate balance of technique, imagination, and artisanal know-how.
Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes of my complete process:
from the very first message to the finished costume.
Step One: Understanding Your Universe
Every costume begins with a conversation.
I want to understand:
-
your character
-
your vision
-
your expectations
-
your constraints (budget, comfort, materials, timeline)
-
the context: convention, showcase, photoshoot, personal collection…
This is where I lay the foundation:
I translate your idea into a concrete, feasible project, coherent and tailored to your body.
My goal: for you to wear a costume that fits you and reflects who you are.
Pattern Making: The Invisible but Essential Part
The pattern is the “blueprint” of the costume.
It’s also the part almost no one sees… yet it determines the final comfort.
I work from your real measurements:
waist, chest, shoulders, length, body shape, posture.
I provide a guide to help you take your measurements accurately.
At this stage, I create the structure of the costume, piece by piece.
It’s a highly technical, entirely handmade step.
Without it, the costume would just be… clothing.
Materials: Choosing the Right Fabric, Texture, and Finish
I carefully select:
-
fabrics
-
linings
-
reinforcements
-
embroidery
-
accessories
-
special textures
-
materials that match the right universe (matte, shiny, organic, metallic…)
A Hazbin Hotel costume is not treated like a fantasy costume, nor like an anime cosplay.
My job is to transform a 2D design into a 3D reality.
Sewing: The Heart of the Process
This is where the magic happens.
I cut each pattern piece and assemble them, while respecting:
-
body lines
-
visual coherence
-
durability (the costume must hold up, even at conventions)
-
the proportions of both the character and your body
-
comfort, always
I adjust, recut, and reinforce.
Some pieces take hours, sometimes days.
Everything is completely handmade, with patience and precision.
Details: What Turns a Costume Into a Unique Piece
The finishing touches often leave the biggest impression on clients:
-
adding patterns (often hand-painted)
-
ornaments
-
embroidery (no machines here)
-
textures
-
trims
-
structural reinforcement
-
weathering (realistic aging)
-
accessories
-
invisible fastening systems
It’s the details that distinguish a “decent” costume from a professional-quality costume.
The Final Result: A Costume Designed for You
Every costume I create is a unique piece, made for one person only.
You receive:
-
your costume
-
maintenance tips
-
instructions for complex pieces
-
a costume designed to accompany you at conventions, photoshoots, or on stage
And most importantly:
a costume made to fit your body, your vision, and your universe.
Why Do My Costumes Cost This Much?
Because they represent:
-
dozens of hours of work
-
custom pattern making
-
technical sewing
-
quality materials
-
fittings, adjustments, and finishing touches
-
artisanal craftsmanship
-
a unique product impossible to find in fast-fashion or chain stores
A custom costume is not just a purchase.
It’s a creative collaboration.
It’s a piece of art made for you.
